The silk scarf has a sheen and depth of color that the polyester version does not attain. Additionally, it has a higher, denser thread count and, of course, it is silk!
This colorful scarf features an image of the stunning stained glass window (located in main hallway), of our historic site, Villa Louis. Deep, warm tones complete the color pallette. The initials in the middle of the stained glass represent the founder of Villa Louis, Hercules Louis Dousman.
Size: 85 cm x 185 cm
Material:100% silk
Hercules Louis Dousman (1800 – 1868) acquired a large fortune through his various enterprises as a fur trader, lumberman, land speculator and frontier entrepreneur. In the mid-1840s the Dousman family began developing an estate on the banks of the Mississippi River at Prairie du Chien that would evolve into Villa Louis. Its vibrant hues and rich textures reflected the family’s rise to wealth and leisure living.
Throughout its evolution the property was always considered an elegant and stylish Victorian country home, and much attention was paid to the grounds surrounding the mansion and outbuildings. The bird’s eye view drawing of the grounds of Villa Louis, the estate of the Dousman Family, shows Louis’ vision for his dream horse stock farm. Villa Louis is a WHS Historic Site in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
