About the Event

Experience the magic of a Victorian holiday celebration at Villa Louis. Afternoon and evening tours showcase traditions and customs from the Dousman family, who called this mansion home for generations starting in 1871. Get into the holiday spirit and see the home decorated for the season. Enjoy the sounds of holiday music at the Steinway grand piano and the smells and tastes of holiday treats in the historic kitchen.

At 4 p.m. on Saturday, Villa Louis at 150, a presentation on the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Villa Louis Mansion, co-hosted by the Friends of the Villa Louis, will be held in the Fur Trade Building. Coffee, hot cider, and Christmas bakes will be available. A goodwill donation before the presentation supports the historic site. See related products below for more information.

About the Location

When you walk through the doors of Villa Louis, you step into the life of one of Wisconsin’s most historic families – the Dousmans. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, Villa Louis offers a panorama of Wisconsin history, beginning with the arrival of early fur traders through the heyday of the Victorian era. Highlighted by the stunning 1871 Italianate style mansion, the 25-acre site includes over a dozen historic structures, including the Rolette House, Brisbois House, Dousman Office Building, Ice House, Preserve House, Laundry, Stable, Blockhouse, Bath House, Pump House, and the foundations of Fort Crawford.
