Lecturer:  Michael J. Leclerc, CG*, is an internationally renowned genealogist. He has authored numerous articles for genealogy magazines and scholarly journals, and is a popular presenter at conferences and seminars around the world. He has appeared as an expert in major media, such as the Boston Globe, Huffington Post, the New York Times, and Time magazine. Michael worked in a variety of capacities at the New England Historic Genealogical Society for 17 years.

In 2012 he joined Mocavo as Chief Genealogist. After the successful sale of Mocavo to FindMyPast, Michael left there in 2015. He then started Genealogy Professor, where he works to provide intermediate and advanced educational opportunities to those researching their family history.

He has edited several books, including Genealogical Writing in the 21st Century: A Guide to Register Style and More, Second Edition, with Henry Hoff, and the fifth edition of the seminal guidebook Genealogist's Handbook for New England Research. Most recently he contributed the "Crafting Family Histories" chapter to the new manual Professional Genealogy: Preparation, Practice and Standards, edited by Elizabeth Shown Mills. He was a contributing editor for American Ancestors magazine, and a consulting editor for the New England Historical and Genealogical Register. In addition to the Register, his scholarly articles have appeared in other leading journals, including The American Genealogist, Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine, and Rhode Island Roots.

Michael served on the boards of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Federation of Genealogical Societies. He is certified by the Board for Certification of Genealogists. You can reach him through mjleclerc.com and Facebook.com/michaeljleclerc as well as genprof.net.
