The story on the back of this detailed souvenir reads as follows, "Pendarvis House was built in 1845 by Cornish immigrants who came to the area to mine lead. Cornish stonemasons used local limestone to construct it in the traditional Cornish style. It was purchased and restored in 1935 by business and life partners Bob Neal and Edgar Hellum, and it was given the name Pendarvis after a Cornish estate. Operating as the Pendarvis House restaurant from 1935-1970, the nationally famous dining room served traditional Cornish pasty dinners, tea, saffron cake, pastries, and clotted cream. Preserving Cornish history and foodways, Neal and Hellum transformed Mineral Point into a tourist destination."
