Dating back to the late 1830s, Java chickens are the second oldest breed of chicken developed in America. Used primarily for egg production, Javas are identifiable by their distinct body shape, dark eye color, and friendly demeanor. Today, Javas are considered rare & endangered, and we are proud to have them on site at Old World Wisconsin and to help preserve this heritage breed.
